I know I've written multiple posts about flowers and its kind of monotomous, but, it is spring and the weather is so lovely! That being said, here is another flower cafe I visited in Seoul. Even though there are various flower cafes there are all very different.
Vers is located in Hongdae, which is a university area. It's easily one of my favourite neighbourhoods because it's such an adventure. Hongdae is filled with unique cafes, bustling bars/clubs, street performers and crowds of shoppers. However, Vers is in a quieter part of Hongdae which is not as hectic but just as unique.
From the outside Vers looks like a place you would find on a beach vacation in Bali or Thailand. The outside is a canopied patio with tons of potted plants and short bamboo walls. The inside is beautifully decorated with flowers and plants.
The cafe is small but very lively. Tons of people visit this cafe as its the most popular garden theme cafe in the city. My friend Cathy and I had to wait about 15 mins to get a seat, whilst others were also waiting for seats. Sitting inside is a longer wait as everyone wants to be inside with the air con and flowers.
Once seated, with our valuables guarding our seats, we went to the cashier to order drinks. Drink choices consisted of herbal teas hot/cold, coffee, fruit juices, wine, beer and cocktails! Gotta love cafes in Korea! On the patio I had seen someone with a watermelon drink so I ordered the same thing, Cathy got a Lavender tea.
For the next 30 mins, all you could hear was the sound of camera clicks. I also took a short video of what the inside looks like.
I always wonder who comes up with these ideas and designs them. Decorating these cafes with delicate plants is obviously not a cake walk. Vers is also owned by two men.... Not something you would think men would be interested in, however they are way better gardeners than I am.
When I think about the other flower cafes I have been to I always think about their similiarities and differences. I noticed Vers has a lot of cacti and green potted plants hanging from the ceiling and in general. Agreable and Arriate both were more flower based and had less green plants.
The large flower wall was definitely my favourite part. The colours and various types of flowers went so eloquently together. I also think my outfit went really well eith the background. Flower walls have also recently become a phenomenon in weddings-- Kim Kardashian & Kanye West...... Hopefully me someday.
In case you are having trouble finding the cash register it is hidden behind a mountain of plants.
Want to visit?
- Hongik University (Green Line 2) Take Exit 3
- Walk out of the station and go straight for about 7 mins. Stay towards the far right of the street.
-Count 5 side streets and turn right on the 5th street and continue straight about 3 mins.
- On the 4th street turn left (the strange intersection) and Vers is on the right side.
