Ulleungdo Island Part. 5

Tuesday, September 9th

On our last day I slept in until about 10 am. There was a free tour added of the Dokdo Museum and a temple, but I was drained with the hot weather, waking up early and hiking so I decided to stay back. After the tour I met up with my co-workers and went for lunch. Everything is expensive on the island. We all really wanted meat, since we didn't really have meat all weekend. So we went out for BBQ, which was okay, nothing special. After eating, I wanted to spend more time around the harbor since I didn't really get to experience much.

This is a picture of squid drying. As I mentioned before, Ulleungdo is famous for their squid! The gut live squid in the market here and cut it into pieces to eat raw, grilled and fried.

When we got to the harbour we walked up the stairs to a lighthouse building where we got a great view of the port. Underneath where we are standing there is a port where some ferries leave from to go to the southern part of Korea.

As you can see there are a lot of fishing boats at the harbor.

Such a great view from up here

After snapping a few pictures we walked down to the port. Then we walked on the other side to walk around the seaside. It felt like we were in a cave because of all the rock sticking out. Of course I had to take my signature selfie!

A different view of the harbor

I've never seen so many starfish. There were lots of blue and orange ones everywhere and also lots of tiny crabs.

And then we took an us-ie on the rocks!

But I needed a self portrait because of this view. This is actually my favorite picture taken of me this whole trip. Usually people never do a good job taking pictures except these girls.

Finally reached the furthest we can walk along the walkway and just took some pictures.

After walking along the seaside, we said our goodbyes to Ulleungdo Island because it was time for the long trip home. In a post from months ago I talked about this being something you should do in the summer while in Korea. It should be closer to #1. The sights are beautiful, the people are friendly, there's lots to do and the water is so clear! Not a lot of people visit here when they come to Korea. Even my Korean co-workers have never been here. It definitely is a hidden gem!
