One of the reasons I love Korea is that there are so many unusal things to do. So far i've gone to animal cafes, villages modeled after places in Europe, themed restaurants and more. Korea also has some interesting cinemas as well. Previously I visited the Beats By Dre theatre and this weekend I went to the Tempurcinema. Yes, Tempurcinema means a Tempurpedic bed! This cinema is located in the posh Apgujeong neighbourhood of Seoul. To watch a movie here the cost is a lot higher than other theatres for obvious reasons. When you pay 40,000₩ ($44 CAD) you get your own reclining tempurpedic bed with a blanket, a 100,000 ₩ giftcard for a Tempurpedic bed, a small snack and a drink (water, juice).
Make sure to take of your shoes when you get into the bed. The theatre was full of couples, we were the only single girls there but we had fun taking lots of pictures.
A Tempur VIP Voucher.... whatever that means. I won't be buying a tempurpedic bed in Korea anytime soon.
There is actually a menu at each set of beds that you can order from. They have alcohol and snacks. There is a call button on the side of each bed so you can get a waiter. Mind you, everything is expensive, we ordered glasses of wine at 16,000 ₩ each! Normally I would never spend that much on a glass but because I wanted the full experience I wanted one. No, I did not take a sip of the wine yet lol!
Cheers to expensive wine & beds in movie theatres.
Behind us you can see some of the other rows. There are 15 sets of beds in the theatre.
I made sure to snap a picture before the movie started.
We saw Assassin's Creed. To be honest I fell asleep, the movie was not what I expected and I was a bit lost. Plus the mix of wine, a bed and darkness! I loved this experience though! I took this picture on the way out so you get a better idea of what the theatre looks like. If you want to know more about this cinema click here.
