Jeju-Do

During the trip to Manila, we found out we would not be gong to work next week so we planned another trip. I would have loved to do an international trip, but flights to other places were a little expensive. Flights to Jeju were super cheap, about $70, so we decided to go with that. Also, I still hadn't been to Jeju so if I didn't go then, I probably would never go.

Jeju is located southwest of the Korean peninsula and is  a self governing island. There are two ways to get there: by plane, which is what we did or by ferry. The flight from Seould (Gimpo) cost us 88,000 won which is under $100. I'm sure the ferry is cheaper because of the Sewol incident, no one wants to take ferry's here. It also takes a long time. We stayed in the city of Seogwipo, in an area called Jungmun. They have a lot of touristy stuff there and the top beach, Jungmun Beach. We stayed in a pension called Happy House Pension. It was two bedrooms and had a kitchen/living room space, a tv and balcony. It was about four times the size of my apartment lol.

The first day we got there it was raining, ALL DAY. But we didn't want to waste the whole day, so we walked around anyways. The Jungmun Resort is where most of the tourist attractions are located.

Before we actually did anything, we went to eat. The first thing we found was BBQ. We had black pig, which Jeju is famous for. Lots of places in Korea have foods they are famous for. even though it's traditional food they're all a little different.

After we ate we decided just to walk around. We had no idea where we were going but we saw a lot. We ended up taking a path down to a river and saw beautiful scenery.

We saw a little waterfall.

After we explored that area for awhile we continued walking around, which led us to a little port. This is where you can go on water jet tours and do other boating activities.

After the port we walked to the beach because we were curious how it looked.

After the beach, we followed a pathway that took us to the Jeju Beach Hotel. It reminds me of the Atlantis Hotel in the Bahamas, even though I've never been I know that hotel.

These wind mill buildings are actually bars and restaurants. This hotel is so nice, but expensive. For one night it was about $500. We just walked around the outside and then through the lobby.

We grabbed snacks from a CU to take home just in case we got hungry later and then we headed back out. Since it was raining there wasn't much to do, so we decided to go to the Alive Museum. Alive museum is just like the trick eye museum, just different illusions.

Alive/ Trick eye museums are always so much fun!
