Garden of Morning Calm: Day trip

11/5/2015

Today I visited The Garden of Morning Calm. It is located in the same are as Petit France, in Gapyeong. Gapyeong is about 2 hours east of Soul.  The Garden of Morning Calm is a huge beautiful botanical garden is the valley. They have tones of different flora and fauna. This garden has many scenic walkways and trails and is very well maintained. Lots of tourists and Koreans visit here. You will leave the garden feeling very relaxed and appreciative of nature. This garden is all about serenity and tranquility.

It's funny because I don't like receiving flowers but I love taking pictures of them and with them. There were many colourful flowers and ones that I have never heard of. There is so many great spots to take pictures, and it wasn't over crowded like some other places are. The garden is about 33,000 square miles though.

There are lots of different garden themes within the garden. We went to the flower house first, which had different types of cacti and flowers.

As we kept walking we visited the Korean theme garden. It had a beautiful water wheel where we took some photos. There are three theme gardens within the Korean theme garden; way to go, the pray and the old way to go.

Then we headed to the sunken garden. This was one of my favourite gardens in the entire place. So many beautiful colours and flowers. This garden is supposed to be shaped like the Korean peninsula. Also, the trees and flowers here represent the desired reunification of North and South Korea.

Then, we made our way to the Korean garden. They had these cute pagodas where people were just sitting under and eating or relaxing. So beautiful!

Now this this was my favourite garden. It's called Pond garden. Its got a beautiful pagoda in the pond. The lily pads and trees make this place so beautiful. Unfortunately you can't go inside the pagoda, but you can get beautiful pictures around it.

After the Pond garden we did a little hike in the mountains under the shade. It was quite hot. We took a trail to the Moonlight garden. In the winter time this area is filled with beautiful lights. I will be coming back here in the winter so you can see what I am talking about. There was a cute little church building.

We did another little hike up the mountain. From the entrance to the right you can see a lookout point up high and it looked beautiful so we wanted to get up there. There was also a greenhouse up there.

Alpine house, a small greenhouse, was really nothing special. We literally went in and out. So, we just walked down the path the next greenhouse which was a lot better. There was a beautiful little stream inside with plants all around it.

After the greenhouse, went to the Morning calm gallery. It was just okay, why look at pictures when you have the whole garden to look at. But we just went in just because we were there. It's free too. After that we went to the Drooping tree garden. It's right by the entrance/ exit. So we took some pictures then called it a day. I absolutely loved this garden, it is a must do for Korea!!!!!! We spent a good 2 hours walking around taking pictures.
