Everland Theme Park!!

30/11/2014

I've been wanting to go to an amusement park all summer. Admission is around 50,000 won so no one ever wanted to go since it's expensive. But recently I found out on Facebook that Everland would be 50% off this weekend for foreigners. Perfect time to go. This is probably the mildest it will get, since it's almost December. I've been hearing about Everland for the longest time, my students are always talking about going there. It's Korea's largest theme park. It is also where Caribbean Bay is located, which is the largest water park in Korea.

Inside of Everland
Everland is located in Yongin, which is about an hour and a half from Dongtan, and about 40 minutes from Gangnam Station in Seoul. The deal I found is for this weekend. Tickets are 25,000 won with a free beer! You can't go wrong with that deal. Although it was packed, since it is a weekend and lots of families go, it was still a lot of fun and we went on a lot of rides.  Everland has lots of attractions like rides, a zoo, butterfly and plant garden, special performances, water park, theme zones, etc.

When you enter Everland there are lots of gift shops and people selling hats and headbands. The building look like old European buildings. But this one reminded me of Russia.

Close to the entrance is the K-Pop hologram. You can watch a hologram K-Pop concert by some of Korea's popular musical talents. But, we never ended up doing it because we wanted to go on rides first.

This is called the Magic Tree. It's so pretty and it lights up at night too!

As we were walking we could see one of the biggest rides, T Express. It's a wooden roller coaster and one of the biggest rides in the park. Unfortunately, we didn't go on this one either. We were going to go on it later in the night but ran out of time because we did other things first.

The "Hurricane," was the first ride we went on. At the entrance for every ride it has a clock with the approximate wait time, this one was 40 min which is not bad. This ride didn't look scary, but just before we came we ate subway. I had a footlong, which I couldn't finish so I was quite full. This ride made me feel woozy, not the best one to go on with a full stomach.

This line was the longest wait, one hour. It is called "Let's Twist". It twist and turns in different directions. I was not a fan of this one because we spend a lot of time on our side which feels very awkward.

The Spooky Fun House had really interesting looking trees. It made the fun house look even more spookier!

We randomly came across a chicken village, so we went in to check it out.

Pretty
This chicken was the star of the night, he reminded me of Skuttle (the seagull) from the Little Mermaid. In the movie he combed his hair with the fork and his hair did this.

This is one of the two safari adventures. But it closed at 5 pm, so we missed it. Now I have to come back to do it!

We ended up going to the Rotating House, which was really cool. The whole time I was try to figure out how much we were moving and how much the room was moving. It was a room with long seats which moved and the room moved as well, but it was an illusion. At times it felt like I was going to fall out of my seat.

There are two types of illuminations right now, romantic and Christmas. This is the romantic illumination. Way too many couples here! The lights were so pretty! We just did a quick walk by because we were going to the Holland zone to get our free beers!

We finally got our beers, so we parked ourselves under a heating lamp and played never have I ever, which was quite interesting. Great way to get to know people better, haha. While we were sitting here we also caught the fireworks at 9pm.

After our beers and the fireworks, we went back to the romantic illumination to take pictures.

We took a group photo with the two new teachers.

We also got to watch the Christmas light parade, which was actually quite fun!

After the parade we went to the Christmas illumination, which was really pretty.

There was a castle filled with Christmas lights which was synced with music. When the music was on different lights would light up. We heard Mariah Carey's "All I want for Christmas is you."

On the way out of the park all the Christmas tree lights we lit up, so lots of couple and families were taking pictures. So, we took some too.

I waited all night to see this. The Magic tree at night. It looks so much better at night time.

This place was really fun, even though we didn't get to do a lot of things. But,I will definitely be going back in the spring or summer. Going this later was too cold. This is more of a family friendly theme park. Apparently, the other theme park Lotte World has more roller coasters, so I need to try that place out too.
