Beautiful Desserts in Seoul

Writing this post I can't help but feel like the typical millennial, as we are the generation that cares too much about apps like Instagram and Snapchat. Social media plays a huge role in our lives, especially social life. Being 7,000 miles from home, I use social media as a way to connect with new people I meet and be present in the lives of my friends/family. Also, I like to document all the cool things I have been doing in Korea and other places I have/ will travel to.

I am always on the hunt for cafes to visit and I came across two cafes on instagram; Sona and 8b Dolce. They both intrigued me because in their desserts were edible flowers. Both of these cafes are located in Sinsa and are walking distance from each other.

Sona

Sona is a fine dessert cafe. The desserts here are carefully handcrafted and elegantly made. Every single dessert is uniquely and visually appealing. Ipads act as menus and there are also pictures you can view. Originally we wanted the Champagne Sugar Ball but they were already sold out. Instead, we ordered creme brulee and a cheesecake. To drink, we got wine ades but they were super sour so we weren't really into them.

I can't remember the name of this dessert but it was amazing. The white ring is like creme/ cheesecake taste and it has strawberry sponge cake pieces, edible flowers, a vanilla/mango sorbet and raspberry coulis. I would definitely get this again when I visit.

The creme brulee wasn't my favourite, however the presentation was an A+! This was the first time I had ever tried creme brulee but for me it was too sweet and crunchy. It had bananas, grapes, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, crumbled chocolate and vanilla sorbet.

The staff were extemely knowlegeable about the desserts and explained exactly what the dessert was and what was in it. I was very impressed. Prices of desserts range from 12,000-14,000₩

8b Dolce

8b Dolce is another popular dessert cafe. They are famous for their edible flower jelly Bavarois. Bavarois is the name for a dessert containing gelatin and whipped cream.

We ordered the Mango Bavarois. However, there are many different flavours to choose from. I didn't taste the mango, actually I really didn't taste anything. I was actually quite disappointed with this dessert. It is clearly just a dessert for photo purposes. The edible flowers were very bitter, so when you eat the flower as part of the dessert it just doesn't mesh well. To drink, I got a raspberry flower ade. Again, I got it for flower purposes, but it did taste good.

Even though I didn't enjoy this dessert--I did however enjoy my photoshoot with it.
8b dolce
For drinks the average price is around 7,000₩ and for dessert around 13,000₩.
