Usually for the Korean Lunar New Year (Seollal) I like to travel to a different country. This year I wasn't able to do that because flights were more expensive than the past few years. Instead, I hung out with one of my friends and decided to do a staycation in Seoul's Gangnam area and checkmark some more activities off my Korean bucketlist. One of those things was Bar Rouge, which is located at the 5 Star JW Marriott by the Express Bus Terminal. We had previously attempted to come here but we were turned down because we didn't have a reservation. Bar Rouge actually has a wine buffet event 5 nights a week. This means for 3 hours (6pm-9pm) and 55,000₩ you can drink as much wine as you like and eat as much food as you want. They have an extensive selection of wines and some champagne. There is even beer if you aren't a wine lover. The tables are set with a red wine glass and a champagne glass. If you want another glass you can get it at the bar. Also, beer is available at the bar too. The wine is self serve, so you have to take your glass to the bar and pour your own glass. The buffet selection is amazing. They have an appetizer table with salads, a sushi table, hot foods table, cheese table and fruits and desserts. The restaurant seats 95 people and also has some karaoke rooms incase you were feeling the urge to sing. We started off with champagne to go with our first plate of food. There were two kinds of champagne; Brut and Moscato. The champagne was good but it was no Veuve. The food on the other hand was delicious! I didn't expect the food to be this plentiful and tasty. After the champagne we tried some red wine, Cabernet Sauvignon, which was really good. Here are the red and white wine options. These are the sparkling wine and rose options. After about 4 plates of food we got a plate of fruit and cakes. The food was so delicious, it was hard not to eat a lot. The cheesecake was really moist and the other blueberry cream cake was pretty good too. I didn't end up drinking as much as I initially thought I would. The food was so delicious I just wanted to keep eating which made me forget about the wine. In the 3 hours we were there, I had 2 glasses of champagne, 1 glass of red wine and I got a glass of rose but I didn't really like it so I didn't finish it. I was pretty disappointed in myself that I didn't try more wines, but last time I did unlimited wine it didn't end very well. Overall, I had a great time! The food was amazing and there was plenty of it. The atmosphere was really nice, it felt like an upscale lounge. There was a great selection of wine and the waiters always made sure not to leave any empty bottles on the counter. I think I will come again but in the summer time and try a lot more wines. The wine buffet only accepts reservations, click here to make one.
