This past Sunday, Jung & I had made plans to see a panda exhibit and also a musical show. We decided on seeing a Nanta show, so we met up in Myeongdong. We got there early but the Nanta theatre doesn't open until 1pm and we were there for 11am. While I was in Myeongdong I got a flyer for massages. We have actually been looking for a Dr. Fish (aka fish pedicure) for awhile. We found out that The Foot Shop actually has them, so we located one in Myeongdong to go to.
It's been a long time since I've done anything solo. Since I had a dentist appointment in the morning I decided to go somewhere new and also to see the new Hello Kitty café. My dentist is in Apgujeong (Gangnam) so I headed to Hongdae after. I never eat breakfast, so I was starving. I randomly saw this really cute Spanish restaurant called "Spain Club", so I decided to give it a try.
The Lotus Lantern Festival (Yeon Deung Hoe) happens once a year for Buddha's birthday. This year his birthday is May 25th and is a red day (holiday) in Korea. The Lotus Lantern Festival is about 1000 years old and is always held before his birthday and includes parades, cultural performances, cultural events, cheer rally's and more. You will know it's that time because you will see colourful lanterns hung up around Seoul, probably all throughout Korea. I didn't go last year for some reason, so I made sure I went this year. I wish I had went both Saturday and Sunday, but I was being lazy so I only went on Sunday. Most of the events were happening around Jogyesa Temple on Jogno Street in Seoul. Click for more photos.
Korea has so many global villages throughout the country. They are really trying hard to get their citizens to be more culturally conscious. Most young Koreans have to study a certain amount of English for school and this village helps with that, which is the purpose for this village. This village favors a place you would see in the United Kingdom.
Today I visited The Garden of Morning Calm. It is located in the same are as Petit France, in Gapyeong. Gapyeong is about 2 hours east of Soul. The Garden of Morning Calm is a huge beautiful botanical garden is the valley. They have tones of different flora and fauna. This garden has many scenic walkways and trails and is very well maintained. Lots of tourists and Koreans visit here. You will leave the garden feeling very relaxed and appreciative of nature. This garden is all about serenity and tranquility.
