You may have noticed my Instagram posts and tweets about me traveling. Yes it is true I left Korea. Unfortunately I didn't get to write my last post from Korea because I was so busy packing and cleaning my apartment. Also, I hate saying goodbye even though I will be back in Korea next week. I just want to take this time to reflect on the good and bad in Korea.
Good: The first time I ever attempted to use the subway I got lost and had very nice people that didn't'to even speak English take me to the correct platform I need to be in.
- All the friends I've made in Korea. There are lots of life long friendships I have made here!
- The food! I've eaten at almost every type of restaurant in Korea and I love that about Seoul.
- During my time in Korea there has never been a dull moment. There is always a festival, a new movie theatre, a new neighbourhood or a new cafe to explore.
Bad: When you go to a non foreigner friendly area and you can't get in a club because out of the 8 of you there is only 1 Korean person. But lucky that was the only time I ever experienced that.
- Working the whole year and getting 1 week vacation. Who does that? Well I did! We did get holidays off but we had to make them up so it doesn't even count as a vacation. To be honest I don't know how people can work that way. After two years of doing that I was so burnt out!
There aren't many bad things I experienced in Korea. The good definitely outweighs the bad. I will miss Korea and everything I've done and learned there but there comes a time when you need to part ways and for me this is now. Korea will ALWAYS have a special place in my heart. Who knows, maybe I will go back a teach there... For now I will be on my 50 day journey to Hong Kong, Vietnam, Cambodia, Taiwan, China, Indonesia and Thailand! Look out for my posts, although they will be sporadic.
