Since I've been in Korea, I haven't really walked around Gangnam much. Not sure why. So today that's what Jung and I did. We were hungry, so we decided to just walk around until we found something interesting. That's when we found Wonderground. Wonderground is near exit 9 of Gangnam station. This restaurant is really interesting, it is very industrial and modern. When you first walk into the restaurant you see this wall. It has some many positive messages in English, Chinese, Japanese and Korean. The decor of this place is really interesting, as you can see. All the tables have different chairs. The booth seats are wooden with an interesting shape. This restaurant is more like an art gallery. The menu was really different. There were no appetizers but they had bulgogi fries and other sharing plates. The main course had pastas, steak and pizzas. Jung ordered bacon carbonara and I ordered beef tenderloin. My meal came with garlic rice, potato wedges and salad. It was DELICIOUS! They had an extensive drink menu; there were beers, wines, tequila, vodka and you could even buy bottles of alcohol. What attracted me to this place was the sign outside that showed a picture a beer sampler, which is one of the reasons we came here. When I visited New York two summers ago, we had gone to a brewery which had beer samplers. So, seeing the picture of the beer sampler excited me. We both got our own samplers, it was only 10,000 won. The first two beers on the left were really light, very easy to drink, like a light Corona, which doesn't make you feel full. The third one tasted like a real beer, maybe Budweiser, Heineken or Labatt. The last one tasted like coffee mixed with beer. I was expecting it to taste like Guinness extra stout because of the colour but it didn't. It even had a coffee smell. It didn't taste very good but it was tolerable. While walking around Gangnam, we passed a guy dressed up as Garfield, the cat, he was promoting a cat cafe. I mentioned we should go, but we both didn't even like cats. Instead we decided to google a dog cafe nearby and we found one. So, after we were done eating we set out for the dog cafe. It was about a 12 minute walk from Gangnam Station. The cafe is called Cafe Pawz. There were so many dogs at this cafe. The cafe is also a dog hotel and doggie day care. A lot of the dogs here were brought by their owners. I guess because they don't have dog parks they have the cafes instead so the dogs can socialize. To stay at the cafe, each person must order a beverage. They also have snacks. The drinks here are overpriced!!! I paid 7,500 won for a hot chocolate and 3,000 won for 4 small pieces of churro. Not thrilled, but I've been wanting to play with puppies for awhile. This places was actually pretty clean considering all the dogs that were running around. There were pee pads for the dogs in case they needed to use the bathroom. Some of them went on the floor and the attendants cleaned it up within a minute. We ended up staying at the dog cafe for about 2 hours. On the way to Cafe Pawz we saw this cafe that was huge and it looked real nice, so we decided to go there after. This place is called Eatery. It is one huge building with different places to eat and drink. Originally we wanted desert, but then we saw this pizza place, which looked and smelled good. It was called Vera Pizza. We got a spinach and bacon pizza to share and a beer each, it came up to 17,500 won, not bad. We also got deserts from another places in the eatery called L'atelier, which is a bakery. They have a whole bunch of different breads, cupcakes, macarons, etc. We each bought two deserts. There were two coffee shops on the first floor as well. On the second and third floor there were two different restaurants. This place has a variety of different food you can eat. There is also an industrial feel at this place. It seems to have gotten a lot more popular here. This is one of my new favourite places to eat.
