Why You Should Visit Paris in the Late Fall or Winter

A cold wave has currently come over South Korea, with temperatures ranging from -8 to -14 Celsius in the daytime. This frigid weather has me thinking about why people would ever want to visit places in the winter time because I sure would not.

First of all, winter in Paris is not the same as winter in places like Toronto, Colorado or Germany. December is the coldest month is Paris, temperatures range from +3-10 Celsius, which as a Canadian I can say is AMAZING! I visited Paris in November and thought the weather was quite mild. I wore a winter jacket but ended up taking it off.

If you are looking for somewhere to visit on the off season, I would suggest Paris for so many reasons. Keep reading if you want to find out why.

No lines at the Louvre

Less Crowding at Major Tourist Attractions

Paris is one of the most visited cities in the world! Along with that comes with hoards of tourists, which means busy tourist attractions. We've all seen images of the Louvre with tons of people in the background. When planning this trip I almost decided to skip the Louvre because I read online that the queue could be between 1 and 2 hours. So, I decided I would just go there to take pictures from the outside. Surprisingly, when I arrived there was no line at all, so I decided to go in. Even in the inside there were no queues for any of the exhibits. I know Paris is probably amazing in the summer but I terms of sightseeing the colder weather is better.

Enjoying Christmas Markets & Lights

Late Fall/Winter means that Christmas is near. At this time everyone is in anticipation for Christmas, so Christmas lights and decorations are customary. Who doesn't love seeing beautiful Christmas decorations!?! Christmas approaching always makes people more jolly and kind. There are also fun winter activities like ice skating and Christmas Markets to attend.

Cheaper Hotel Prices

Like most cities, travelling in the off season means accommodations are cheaper and there are plenty of options. Nothing is more annoying than paying for overpriced accommodations because the weather is nice. Or, every hotel being booked so you either get stuck with a dirty cheap motel or expensive hotel.

Fewer People in Cafes

The Paris cafe scene is known to be famous for being a social meeting place and an amazing culinary experience. It's surprising that you can get a great Parisian meal for an affordable price. The atmosphere is a lot different from the traditional restaurants. Even on a week night getting a table is rare in a Brasserie. However, in the off season you might get the whole cafe to yourself like I did twice!

Cool Weather Fashion

Even though summer is my favourite season, I cannot deny that I love fall fashion. Summer fashion is very simple with the floral dresses and bright colours. Fall and winter fashion is better because you can layer clothes and get different looks. You can also wear cute booties and jackets and not look like a mad woman. Plus, it is also fashion week in Paris!
