The year 2018 has been special because I've done a lot of firsts. I travelled with new people, realized I never want to travel with some people again, went to new cities, visited countries I've already been to and more. It's always fun to look back at all the trips I've been on and re-live the experiences through the pictures I've taken. I can't wait to see what new places 2019 takes me.
What initially intrigued me about Tokyo was all the cute cafes and corny restaurants I hear about. For some reason it took me a long time to get out there but once I did I was obsessed! Tokyo is easily one of my favourite cities, I could give you a whole list of reasons why but I'll only write a few. First, there is SO much culture in this large modern city. Second, it's impossible to get bored, there are so many things to do and see. Last, is obviously the cute cafes and restaurants!

Shanghai Disneyland, China
I have a huge one/hate relationship with China. However, once I found out that Disneyland opened there I had to visit because I had never been before. Although, I don't think losing my Disneyland virginity at Shanghai was the greatest decision. However, I'm still glad I went!

Hawaii is one of those destinations that is on literally everyones bucket list and I now understand why. I spent a week in Oahu and it was amazing. Minus the annoying rainy then humid island weather everything was perfect! I woke up early to hike, see attractions and just to get a good spot on the beach. A beach vacation to me in not just sitting on the beach all day, it's being on the water and seeing the natural beauty an island has to offer. I cannot wait to come back here! This was definitely one of my highlights.

Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands
Since living in Korea I fund out that Saipan was a popular destination for Korean families. Had no idea what the heck Saipan was until I did my research. Thank God I did! I would have never know about this hidden gem in the Pacific Ocean. most people don't even know that it is a US territory since WWII. It's quite expensive to visit from the Americas but pretty cheap from Asia. It is so worth the visit though.

New Orleans, USA
Whew, New Orleans was a journey, that's because I did not fly into the city I came from a small city 4 hours north or New Orleans and drove down. I knew New Orleans had a mind of it's own but I didn't expect it to be crazy in September. I've always wanted to attend Mardi Gras and realized I didn't need to because people still throw beads. I know its not the same but hey whatever works. One thing I was not ready for was the humidity! The heat is crazy there, but like most of these other places I will still go back.

Vientiene & Luang Prabang, Laos
Laos reminds me of a less busy more expensive Thailand. They have very similar cultures and are also neighbours. Laos has a lot of beautiful natural sights and it's very simple to navigate. It's a great place to visit once, but I don't think I would go back just because it's so similar to Thailand. However, I prefer Thailand. Anyways, Laos was another country on my Asia bucket list so I'm glad I got to visit even if it was literally 2 days!
I first went to Hong Kong in 2016, so I did most of the things I wanted to then with the exception of Victoria Peak. Last time I went it was so foggy, so all I saw was foggy lights from the sky. This time it was a clear night so the view was amazing! Hong Kong is such a great weekend trip as it's only 3 hrs away from Korea. I plan to visit again next year but this time strictly for Disneyland.
Last time I went to Macau it was only for a few hours. I had visited on my trip to Hong Kong but the weather wasn't very good so I ended up only stay about 2-3 hours. This time I stayed for a weekend to check out the casinos and the things Macau has to offer. Macau has some delicious food, interesting history and some beautiful hotels. I probably won't go back but I can appreciate this small island.

My last trip of the year was back home to Toronto. I actually enjoyed this trip a lot because I did a lot of firsts like going to the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) and the Toronto Christmas Market. I got to spend lots of time with friends and family which is always great. I also turned 30 this year and got to celebrate with family too and realized I actually missed home more than I thought. although I didn't do as much as I originally had planned the things I did do were a lot of fun.
I hope you enjoyed my 2018 Travel Highlights!
