2016 has been an awesome year for me. Alot of things have happened, some amazing and some not so much. Nonetheless, this year has been one of my best years.
In terms of travel, this year was epic! I visited the most amount of countries this year. I was able to travel to 7 countries and a new state, which gave me tons of adventures and numerous memorable moments. I also made some drastic life decisions for myself, which will allow more travel for 2017!
Without further adieu, here are my 2016 travel highlights!
I have been looking forward to visiting Shanghai for a long time. The bright lights, big city, concrete jungle really interested me. Unfortunately, I was not too impressed with Shanghai. As a person of colour, I felt Chinese people with very invasive because they would try and snap pictures of me when I wasn't looking. I don't mind taking photos when I am asked but when you try to be sneaky that's where I have a problem. I thought the city was beautiful and had lots to do but just wasn't for me.

Austin was a very last minute decision. I didn't plan a lot of stuff to do that wasn't in downtown Austin. I found Austin to be a very welcoming city, which I did not expect. I actually met a lot of people wandering around. I would love to go back there!
Unfortunately, the day I went to Macau it rained. I didn't end up seeing a lot of places because I didn't have an umbrella. Also, My google maps wasn't working so I felt a bit lost. I loved walking around Senado Square, it was like I was in Europe! I didn't gamble, but maybe i'll check out the casinos next time.

Siem Reap, Cambodia
Siem Reap was one of the hottest countries I have EVER been too! The heat was so unbearable i'm surprised I didn't pass out. Siem Reap is home to one of the 7 wonders of the world and is rich in history. It has the most amazing temples I've seen so far. It was definately worth the trip!

Ho Chi Minh/Hanoi, Vietnam
I visited Hanoi & Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. They are complete opposite ciities. Hanoi is very old looking and you can see there is a lot of history there. On the other hand Ho Chi Minh is very modern and has high rise buildings and expensive name brand stores. Both cities are very unique and are both worth visiting.

Hong Kong was amazing. I think it is one of my favourite destinations. The island is small but that doesn't mean there is a shortage of things to do. Hong Kong has a plethora of attractions, delicious foods, amazing views and big bright lights. If you want to get a taste of China without going to mainland China, then visit here!

I've got to say, I dislike but at the same time I love Bali. Places like Kuta kind of ruined Bali for me. The beach sucked and there were a lot of creeps. I loved being in Ubud, minus the locals trying to scam you. Ubud is so peaceful and isn't completely ruined by foreigners. I enjoyed all the places I went to while in Ubud. I felt like Ubud was a place for couples or small groups of friends. Though, I would like to go there again.

I never expected to be so in love with Taiwan as much as I am. Taiwan is seriously one of the most underrated countries to visit. There is so much green (most of the island is forest) and it's not as polluted as other Asian countries. The street markets are amazing and the food is so delicious. If you can, get here and visit!

Who doesn't love Thailand? It's so hard not to with the delicious food! Thailand has always been one of the top destinations for travelers because it's so afforable. Food is super cheap and delicious, there are beautiful temples to visit, lots of cultural festivals, you can play with elephants, the list goes on. Thailand is one of those places I could not get sick of visiting.
