So today I went to the Hwaseong Fortress in Suwon, a city beside Hwaseong. Let me tell you, wear running shoes and track pants! I walked around the whole Fortress which was 3.5 miles, plus more because we walked around to other places after that. This Fortress is HUGE so plan to spend 2-3 hours just walking around and taking pictures! I took lots of pictures that I will upload to my gallery. To learn more about Hwaseong Fortress CLICK HERE
One thing I've noticed about Korea is the stairs. Everywhere there are so many stairs to go up and down. Plus the stairs are not even which makes it even more difficult. I had a hard time getting up these stairs, because I had just eaten a burger LOL and i'm out of shape! Plus I wore these wedge running shoes, but i find those to be more comfortable for me. Don't be surprised when you see women wearing heels walking around here, women in Korea wear heels for EVERYTHING!
Once we climbed up the stairs and stumbled upon these hideously cool dragon trains. You can take this around the fortress instead of walking. When you keep walking there is a Buddhist temple. Behind the Buddhist temple is a huge Golden Buddha statue. Then you continue on and see more of the Fortress.
Then we came across this bell. I love the messages behind it.....
There are so many pavilions that have amazing views of Suwon and the Fortress
As you keep walking along the Fortress you have to stop so many times and just stare. It's so beautiful, summer here would be amazing. I don't think I could walk that far in summer though. Here are some more great shots.
Lastly, we went to Haenggung Palace. You can see this Palace when you are walking along the Fortress. I thought this Palace was huge but apparently there are bigger ones. This is a great site to see. To learn more about the Haenggung Palace CLICK HERE
