After I was done at the Gardens, I wanted to go to the Singapore Flyer. Of course I walked there, I walk EVERYWHERE just because. So I walked along Marina Bay, it was so beautiful. Across the Bay I could see the Singapore Flyer and some museums with the brown roofs . I think it took me about an hour to get there because I had no idea where I was walking to. Marina BayThe Helix bridge was one of the things I wanted to see. It was featured in my lonely planet guide. Locals call it the DNA bridge, since it is the same shape. The bridge connects Marina Bay and the Promenade, where I went for coconut ice cream. Just after crossing the Helix bridge I stopped to take this photo. Great views everywhere around here! I have three major sights in one picture; Marina Bay Sands Hotel, Helix bridge and the ArtScience Museum (Lotus looking building). After my loooong walk, I finally made it to the Singapore Flyer. It wasn't very busy for a Sunday. The ticket cost 40 SGSD. Singapore FlyerBefore I went on the Flyer, I had to go to the bathroom. On my way out I noticed a spa with Dr Fish. In Korea I have been looking for this Dr Fish since I first arrived and have had no luck finding one. So obviously I went in. It was a bit pricey, 30 SGD for 30 mins, which was the lowest price. My feet were horrible; in Korea they don't do real pedicures, they just put the nail polish on your toes when you ask for a pedicure. I was really nervous to do this because there were so many fish and I didn't know how it would feel. But it does not hurt at all, it feels ticklish. I did the small fish first. They were so attracted to my feet, but I guess that's what happens when you haven't had a pedicure in over a year! The spa is so nice inside, it had a nature vibe going on. They also have massages here as well. There are three fish tanks; two big one with the small fish, and one smaller one with the larger fish. After about 20 mins in the small fish tank, the lady asked me if I wanted to try the larger fish. Of course I said yes. Then I saw them and was thinking "whoa these are pretty big". Then lady then told me the nibbles would feel a lot stronger. Which they did, but it wasn't uncomfortable. It was more of a weirder feeling than the small fish, since the smaller ones were so light you barely felt the nibbles. After my fish pedicure my feet felt soooo smooth. They felt smoother than when I get a real pedicure, so yes these fish pedicures actually work! After my pedicure was the Flyer. Before you get to the Flyer you go through so many rooms. First they stop you for a picture and give you a number to see it after your ride. Then they have all these modern art pieces and other things you can see before you get to the Flyer. I just walked straight passed them but took a few pictures. As I waited in line to go on the flyer, I saw a capsule with dining tables. How romantic would that be to have dinner at night in that capsule, just saying. Any man who takes his girlfriend or wife there is one smart man! I'm saying this because I would love to do it :). Anyways the Flyer is 165 m high. On a good day from the top of the Flyer you can see Singapore city, Sentosa Island, The airport, parts of Indonesia and Malaysia. Luckily for me I was in a capsule with a family from India who had a tour guide, so I got all this free information about the history of Singapore and its colonization to what it is today, all for free. Plus I got amazing views and someone to take my picture. Loving the view up here. Clarke QuayAfter my ride the next stop was Clarke Quay, which was not too far away. As I walked to Clarke Quay I passed the Fullerton Hotel, which is a beautiful colonial style hotel. Lots of famous people like Queen Elizabeth and Michael Jackson have stayed there. I wonder what the inside looks like. Considering I ate long time ago, I was starting to get hungry. So, when I saw this ice cream stand I knew I was going to get some. It is all fresh coconut ice cream. With every ice cream you get a free nice cold coconut water. I hated coconut water, well the ones you can buy in the stores because it doesn't taste very good. But this one was so delicious, especially because it was nice and cold on a hot and humid day. I got the premium dessert, which is coconut ice cream with red ruby water chestnuts. It was pricey but oh so good. To get to Clarke Quay I had to go through a tunnel so I didn't have to cross the street. This is some of the amazing artwork I saw. After Clarke Quay, I walked over to Starbucks and just sat for a bit because I was so tired from walking. I sat for probably 30 min then walked back to my hostel which was about 30-40 minutes. After I got back I debated whether or not I should go out. Going out to a bar alone is quite weird but I didn't really have a choice, so I went. AltitudeI had all my night out's planned. First day had to be Altitude, also in lonely planet book. It has the best views of Singapore and is the worlds highest bar. You have to take 2 elevators up. One that goes to the 63rd floor, then another one that goes up two more floors I think. It was pretty windy and chilly us there since it was so high up. Cover is 30 sgd, but you get to choose a free drink from the menu at the entrance when you pay. The view was amazing. Especially to see all the places I visited earlier in the day all light up was beautiful. Of course being at this bar you are paying for the view so drinks are very expensive. After I finished my glass of some cocktail I picked, I got champagne to celebrate my adventure alone, which cost me 35 sgd. LOL! A simple beer was 18 sgd, which makes no sense but hey, the view is awesome and the music; house & electronic, was good. The bar was quite dead since it was a Sunday, one of the security guards told me that Thurs-Sat are the busiest nights. I planned on staying for an hour since it was quite boring, but then I met a South American couple living in Australia. We started having a conversation about how multicultural the country is and how its amazing that everyone gets along. We also talked about how other countries..... ahem, AMERICA, need to learn from them! I ended up talking to them for another hour. But I decided to go back to my room since I didn't want to spend more money on drinks and I was cold and tired from all the walking I did. The first day was a lot of fun, a great way to start off my vacation! Look out for day 2. Clarke Quay is a popular place for tourists and Singaporeans to mingle. It stretches across the Singapore River, with boats taking people for rides. The buildings are very colourful and there are lots of lights as it gets darker. There are lots of restaurants, clubs and bars here. It was very busy. I didn't go for a ride because I had other things I wanted to do. But I kept a mental note of things I want to do when I go back to Singapore.
