Thailand has been on my bucketlist forever! I saved Thailand as my last adventure because I knew I would love it and wanted it to be the last place I remembered before I went home.
My itinerary was: Krabi for 1 day & night Phuket for 1 day & night Krabi for 1 day & night Bangkok for 2 days & 1 night Chiang Mai for 4 days & 3 nights Chiang Rai for 3 days & 2 nights Bangkok for 1 night It's a weird scattered schedule, I know, but I flew AirAsia and had the Asean Pass. I booked things a bit late and had to rearrange my schedule to make the flights work. Anyways, my trip started off in Krabi which is located in the southern tip of Thailand. My first impression of Krabi was wow this place is so quiet. Immediately when I got to my hostel I put my stuff down and got changed for the beach. The walk to the beach was not very long, about 10 mins.
Even though I didn't expect Krabi to be this quiet I kind of liked it. I could put my stuff down and there was no one around so I didn't have to stare at my things like a hawk. I think the most amount of people I saw at the beach were about 5. So I just napped on the beach, floated in the water and people watched. The long tail boats in the water take you to islands close by. So, if you wanted to go to Koh Phi Phi which is a beautiful island also famous for filming "The Beach" movie with Leo DiCaprio. I didn't bother to go since I was only going to be in Krabi for a day. I know i'll be going back to Thailand again so i'll save it for then.
Thai food is extremely cheap! I went to a restaurant and got Pad Thai and a beer for $5 (140 Baht).
After eating I went back to my hostel to rest. When I woke up I was just in time for the sunset so I hurried back to the beach. My entire trip I was looking forward to sunsets but I didn't get anything spectacular until now. I was able to get the whole sunset transition into night.
Such a beautiful sunset!!! Around Ao Nang beach there are many restaurants. I spent about an hour trying to figure out where I wanted to eat. The seafood here is really cheap! I really wanted jumbo shrimp but I was being very cheap about it. Everywhere it was $5 a shrimp but I wanted cheaper, so I found a place called family restaurant. It was really cheap but the service was bad. The food was good but nothing special. I can't remember how much I paid but it was under $15 for my meal and fresh juice.
After eating I called it a night because I needed to figure out how i'd get to Krabi for the afternoon.
Phuket
To get to Phuket, I arranged a shuttle bus from a random company I found walking around the beach. It was about $20. The ride was so long because we had to switch vans like twice and people we being switched to different vans. Phuket wasn't even on my itinerary but I met a girl who was going there for Songkran and she told me to come which is why I went for the 1 day.
I spent the afternoon and evening outside and only got one picture. Songkran is a huge water festival, which is why I didn't use my phone while I was here. I wasn't even in Phuket long but I was already turned off. There are so many older creepy men who took pleasure in only squirting women's private parts or were just drunk and stupid. Phuket is a place a lot of people go to party and let loose. But ladies beware of the creeps! Krabi Again
The next day I came back to Krabi using public transportation (which is so cheap!). It was the Songkran festival here and was a lot different from when I first got to Krabi. There were people everywhere throwing buckets of water and squirting water guns. By the time I got to my hotel I was soaked and so were my things, obviously I was pissed! So I decided to just chill by the pool since I basically already participated in Songkran. Plus, where I stayed was really nice! The hotel is about $95/night and I stayed in the dorms for $20/night and got the same perks!
Luckily down the street there were food stalls, so whenever I got hungry I just walked over about bought some cheap food. The Pad Thai cost me less than $2! #Winning!
Most of the day I just laid by the pool. A few times I would go out and watch people get soaked by water but I didn't want to get wet again. It looked really fun but I involuntarily participated in the event, which almost destroyed my computer so I sat it out. I don't really like water fights anyways but I did enjoy the delicious foods. I went back to the food stalls to get this egg pancake which was also under $2.
Overall, I enjoyed my relaxing Krabi trip. I'll be going back again but this time to do more island hopping. I don't think i'd ever go back to Phuket, I felt sleazy being there just minding my own business.
