With recent temperatures in the city, it is obvious that the summer season is fast approaching. Summer is the hottest time of the year in Korea as temperatures soar to 40 degrees celsius with humidity. Seoul, for the most part a concrete jungle, which means the city will be humid and muggy, with no much relief from the sea. However, that shouldn't stop you from enjoying the city. Whether it's your first summer in Korea or your fourth, there are always new things to do in the city.
Visit the new Seoullo 7017
Seoullo 7017 is the newest attraction in Seoul. Seoullo 7017 is an overpass that was just completed this year. It was a highway turned pedestrian walkway. It is truely a remarkable sight to see. There are also lots of facilities to enjoy like restaurants, gardens, giftshops, cafes, tourist centre and more!
Have "Chi-Maek" on the Han River
Everyone knows that chicken & beer is huge in Korea. So is ordering chicken while hanging out at the Han River. There are people that walk around giving flyers for chicken restaurants to order from or you can always find your own restaurant and order. There is actually an app solely for ordering chicken at the Han River, however if you can't read Korean you can't use it! Also make sure to check out Tubester. On the weekends you can't reserve a tube, you just have to go and line up to get one. Each tube fits up to six people and costs ￦30,000 for 30mins and ￦45,000 for an hr. Make sure to bring some Chi-maek with you!
Have a picnic at Seoul Forest
Picnics are always so much fun. What makes it better is being allowed to drink in public places. However, that doesn't mean you should go and get plastered. It's nice to have a cool and refeshing beer while snacking at the park. Seoul Forest is a great place for picnics because they have a large open area and you can sit whever you would like. If you feel bored just wander around the park and check out the deer park or rent a bicycle.
Attend a Pool Party
Pool parties in Seoul are becoming more frequent and wild. If you are looking for a more relaxed atmosphere visit Itaewon's Hamilton rooftop pool. The price is ￦20,000 and is easily accessible. If you are looking for something more like Vegas style then visit the Walkerhill. There are only 6 events and tickets go up to ￦80,000 (includes a free drink). Though, this hotel is known for the wild pool parties and guest celebrity DJs that they have.
Go to a Music Festival
The amount of music festivals in Seoul has steadily increased. World renowned festivals like Tomorrowland and Ultra Music Festival are now taking place in Seoul. There are many other music festivals of different genres as well. Check out interpark's website to see a complete list.
Have a Drinks on a Rooftop Patio
Drinks and patios are always the motto of summer. Rooftop patios are becoming easier to find in Seoul. In Itaewon you can find lots of restaurants with rooftop patios. If you are looking for a fancy patio then try hotels like the Conrad or Mercure Ambassador. Drinks are more pricey but worth it for the view.
Lotte World is Korea's version of Disneyland. It is also the largest indoor amusement park in the world! One day tickets are ￦52,000 but if you visit after 4 or 7pm you can get discounted tickets. At Lotte World you can enjoy indoor rollercoasters, ice skating and much more!

Enjoy Dinner from a Food Truck
Finally the whole food truck craze has made it to Seoul! Yeouido, Banpo, Dongdaemun Design Plaza and Chyeonggye Plaza are where you can find the food trucks. They start around 6pm and go until 11pm~12am. There is actually a great variety of different foods like tacos, burrito bowls, grilled/fried shrimp, sushi, steak, etc. Most of these locations also have pop up night markets as well so you can shop too!
Go on a Boat Cruise
The best way to see the Han River is to be on it. They have different types of cruises to choose from; Music, fireworks, story, moonlight, buffet. Cruising along the Han you will get to see famous landmarks like Lotte World Tower, etc. Prices for these cruises vary. Trying to book boat cruises can be difficult-- Book with Trazy for a stress free trip!
Go to a Sporting Event
Sporting events in Korea do not compare to the ones I've been to back home. Everyone is happy, friendly and kind. Baseball is one of the most attended sports games in Korea and also the most fun I have ever had at a sports game. Usually when I attend a sports event I lack focus because of boredom, but because the crowd is so amazing I actually got really into the games. Sports games are also inexpensive. Good seats at a baseball game would cost you about ￦30,000! Soccer is also another popular summer sport to watch!

Watch the sunset over Banpo Bridge
The Banpo Bridge is the most popular bridge in Seoul. From April to October the Banpo Bridge illuminates rainbow coloured lights syncronized with music. You can also visit the three man made floating islands-- Some Sevit. For the best views of the water show watch from Banpo Hangang Park in the evening. There is no admission fee to watch. Times are 12pm, 7:30pm, 8:00pm, 8:30pm, 9pm on the weekends.
Explore a cave
A lot of people do not know there is actually a cave about 20 mins south of the city centre. Gwangmyeong Cave is a historical site, as it started the evolution of modern industries. This cave is special because it's the only one in a metropolitan city. It's also a great place to stay cool in the summer!
